Cookie Banner Case Studies & Tracking Reviews

Monthly practical reviews of UK website cookie banners, consent controls, analytics tags, advertising pixels and tracking behaviour. Our published reviews highlight practical consent, transparency and tracking points found across real websites.

This archive is designed for website owners, marketers, agencies and developers who want to understand how cookie banners and tracking behave in practice — not just how they look on the page.

Latest Review: June 2026 Legal Sector Cookie Banner Review

Our June 2026 review considers 15 UK legal-sector websites. It examines visible cookie banner controls, accept and reject routes, preference settings, cookie policy clarity and public indicators around analytics, advertising pixels and consent signals.

The review begins from a fresh public visitor journey where practical and identifies points that may merit further checking by a website owner, developer, marketing team or legal adviser. It is not legal advice, a regulatory finding or formal compliance certification.

Cookie banner and tracking review for UK legal-sector websites

What We Measure in Each Cookie Banner Review

Our reviews focus on practical consent and tracking signals that website owners, marketers and developers can understand. We look at how the banner behaves, which choices are presented, whether tracking activity may need closer technical review, and whether the cookie policy supports an informed visitor decision.

Legal-Sector Websites Reviewed

Our latest published sector review considers the public cookie and tracking journey across 15 UK legal-sector websites.

Banner Controls

We consider whether users can clearly accept, reject or manage non-essential cookies without hidden choices, confusing wording or unnecessary friction.

Analytics & Pixels

We review public indicators around common tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager and Meta Pixel to identify practical points for further investigation.

Cookie Banner Review Methodology

Each review follows a practical public-website checklist. We focus on what a visitor can see and what a website owner may need to investigate further with their developer, marketing team or legal adviser.

  • Whether the initial consent journey offers visible and understandable accept, reject and preference routes.
  • Whether visitors can revisit their cookie choices after making an initial selection.
  • Whether cookie categories and purposes are explained clearly enough for an informed choice.
  • Whether public banner behaviour indicates that technical consent controls may need a closer review.
  • Whether the cookie policy is easy to locate, current-looking and useful to a visitor.
  • Whether the banner and preference journey remain understandable on desktop and mobile layouts.
  • Whether Google Analytics, Google Ads, GTM or Meta Pixel create points for a developer or marketing review.
  • Whether the published page can offer clear, proportionate and practical improvement points.

Official Guidance Behind Our Reviews

Our content is informed by publicly available guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office and official Google documentation. The ICO explains that websites should tell people if cookies are set, clearly explain what those cookies do and why, and obtain actively and clearly given consent unless a limited essential-cookie exception applies.

Google Consent Mode is also relevant for many websites using Google Analytics, Google Ads or Google Tag Manager because it allows consent choices to be communicated to Google so tags can adjust their behaviour based on the user’s choice.

Our public reviews are practical observations based on the visible website journey at the time of review. They do not replace legal advice, a full technical audit or access to a website’s consent-management and tag-management configuration.
